Are Republicans That Unaware?

“Thank you to everyone!!! I have never had so much support on anything before,” Trump wrote in an all-caps message on his Truth Social app. This message was in reply to his latest indictment. The former President is well aware of the benefits of his multiple court cases. If, as expected, he adds a charge in Georgia, he will probably be in court throughout the nominating process. With cable news already following each courtroom journey, this will be wall-to-wall Trump.

As I predicted, Democrats load the Republican’s weakest candidate with questionable charges to minimize coverage of Trump’s opponents for the nomination while rallying Republicans to his defense. The result is both the ex-president and the Democrats get the candidacy both want.

Anyone will want to run against a candidate who never polled or received votes tallying over 50%. Once Trump has locked the nomination, putting old, corrupt Joe Biden out to pasture in favor of someone young and unsullied will follow. The trap set for the Republicans will snap shut.

Of course, a young accomplished Republican candidate puts the plan in jeopardy. Hence, the full court press on any leading young Republican appearing in the polls. Without Biden’s baggage, California Governor Gavin Newsome or Michigan Governor Gretch Whitmer look much more palatable against the old, largely disliked, encumbered Trump than a young, highly successful Florida governor Ron DeSantis.

This circumstance tells us why the Florida Governor has faced unrelenting derision from the Democrats and their media allies. Reelected by a close to 20% margin and one who appointed a blue-ribbon panel to create a mandatory course teaching the true story of slavery, they paint him as an unlikable racist.

The beat goes on. Even though Vice-President Kamala Harris’s taking one sentence out of context and misquoting it has been debunked, the Democratic ally New York Times printed an article by their writer on all thing race, Jamelle Bouie, still making a case for Harris’ charge. It’s important because the New York Times often signals a line of attack followed by like-minded politicians and media.

Sure enough, we heard it echoed by Jessica Tarlov on the “Five, “the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin, and in a letter from the NBA Players’ Association to the Orlando Magic, among others.

So what did Bouie say? Even though, as I pointed out in the last post, the College Boards Advanced Placement Course on slavery mirrors the Florida course mentioning some enslaved people benefitted from skills obtained during slavery, Bouie had three objections to that conclusion.

One used the term slave, while the other used enslaved. This protest seems a distinction without a difference for the woke, but read the article and see what you make of it.

He added that some of the Florida Curricula people cited may or may not have learned a skill while enslaved. This objection seems silly. George Washington’s Mt Vernon taught enslaved many skills. His will freed all his slaves at his death. Does Bouie want us to believe they didn’t use these skills as free people?

The last needs to be better journalism or its intended misinformation. The AP Course mentions benefits accruing to post-emancipation Blacks, while the Florida course leaves the time frame open. Bouie states these skills failed to benefit anyone earlier. I pointed out in the last post the 1860 census showed almost half a million free blacks depended on ownership or wages. Indeed having skills benefited them. If I can find official Census figures, a “skilled” NYT writer can. Yet, he doesn’t mention those freed before the civil war.

In college, I took courses from Professor Richard M. Brace. At the time, his text on Western Civilization was the most widely used in the nation. He informed us the only way to understand what was going on in any era was to put aside preconceived ideas and envision them from the perspective of those at the time. Hence my continuing interest in archaeology as well as history. Finding out how people lived tells the real story.

Visiting Jefferson’s Monticello, my wife and I learned of the nail works operated by enslaved people. Some worked there learning the trade before moving on to other skills, such as blacksmithing and woodworking. An enslaved person, like Wormley Hughes, could use these skills when he gained freedom. The Florida course appears proper because I saw how people lived and learned on a plantation.

This method is what people seeking the truth invest in. Others are just polemicists without depth. Jamelle Bouie and those cloning him fall in the latter category. Pointing out errors in their story means nothing to them, as truth isn’t the objective, just the narrative.

The Vice President is a perfect example of favoring a storyline over facts. She gave us her take on “benfits,” but when challenged to debate the point with Gov. DeSantis, she refused but continued to utter the falsehoods.

Illuminating this act of cowardness is when Sean Hannity asked if they would be willing to debate their differences, Gavin Newsome and Ron DeSantis quickly agreed. This response is why I feel Newsome has a far better chance to be on the ’24 Democratic ticket than the feckless VEEP.

Gavin Newsome or some other young non-administration Democrat debating Trump will have a superior advantage in appearance than Kennedy had over Nixon. All the Democrat has to say is I’m for change and the future. Old baggage-laden Trump is toast.

However, having to compare records leaves Newsome or any other young Democrat debating DeSantis at a disadvantage. This situation is especially tough for the California Governor. Florida just has done everything better than California.

The trap is there for everyone to see, but Republicans are blissfully unaware. They continue to line up behind loser Trump. Worse, they’ve formed a circular firing squad to destroy candidates with far better chances to win, such as DeSantis. For instance, some Republicans led by Tim Scott rallied to Kamala Harris’ false “Benefits” narrative to hurt DeSantis. To date, none have retracted their false statements. Like the VP, they, too, are cowards and liars and are contributing to the Republucan’s likely ’24 loss.

Like the parable of the Boiling Frog, you will see Republicans’ cooked before they realize it.

  1. […] The debate unfolded as I had foreseen but with even more dramatic results. As anticipated, Biden’s performance that night revealed his vulnerabilities, leading to a swift abandonment by many of the party’s leaders and media supporters the following day. The critical difference is that Biden’s unsuitability was starkly exposed, prompting an immediate exodus. This outcome aligns with our suspicion of a plan to replace Joe with a candidate perceived as more competent at the top of the ticket. Nearly a year ago, in my post, ‘Why Republicans Lose,’ I outlined how, once Trump secured the Republican nomination, the Democrats would discard the weak old Joe and his baggage and nominate a fresh, younger candidate.
